Microsoft stated on it’s TechNet blog that it’s simplifying windows update process.Microsoft released a
convenience rollup package for windows 7 Service Pack 1(Windows 7 SP1 convenience) and for Windows Server 2008 R2 on May 17, 2016.
Convenience Rollup Package
The convenience rollup package will simplify update process and contains all the
security and non-security fixes released since the release of Windows 7 SP1, up through the
April 2016.Now win7 users have to install this
one update in place of hundreds of different small and large update packages.Then they will only need new updates released after April 2016.

The convenience update is
optional and users may choose to install it or not.Also another thing to take away is that this update

Microsoft also announced that all the
Non-Security updates for
Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, 2012 and 2012 R2 will be available as Monthly Rollup. Each and every month Microsoft will release a
single update having all the non-security fixes or the ‘Recommended’ updates. But users have to download all the security or ‘Critical’ updates regularly as it’s happening.
